Do I need dance shoes?
If you have dance shoes, please bring them because they help protect feet during rehearsals. If you don’t have them, you can just dance barefooted.
Do I need costumes for the dance concert?
We recommend that you bring a black ensemble and white ensemble if possible. This can include skirts, shirts, leotards, tights, gauchos, palazzo pants, loose fitting pants. If you do not own any of these things, we will try to help you find something to wear for the dance concert.
Ladies – White or Black Dance Ensemble examples: Dance dresses, leotards, skirts (not see through) loose pants, palazzo pants, gauchos, dance tights or leggings. The stage is raised; therefore leggings, tights, gauchos or palazzo pants should be worn under dresses and skirts for all performances.
Men – White or Black Dance Ensembles examples: White/black pants and shirts and colorful shirts.
The dance program is usually danced barefooted, but if you prefer, bring lyrical shoes/Danceundeez/Dance Paws, etc.
What do I wear to dance class?
We recommend comfortable clothes that will allow movement – Capri or gaucho pants, t-shirts and/or skirts, preferably something more modest than what you might wear to a secular dance training event. Jazz shoes, tap shoes and ballet shoes would also be great.
If you don’t have these items, come and dance in whatever loose-fitting clothes you may have and you can always dance barefoot if you don’t have dance shoes.
We just want you to come and explore the joy of dance if you so choose. Many of these items listed above may be purchased in your local thrift shop.
This is a worship event so you may feel more comfortable wearing a cover up (skirt, dress, pants, shorts, capri, gauchos) over leotards when leaving class.
Do I need dance training to attend dance classes?
No, some classes are designed for beginners. Other classes are for dancers with training. Please read the class and seminar descriptions to make your class selections. We offer dance classes for all levels.
How is class placement determined?
The first Sunday evening rehearsal time will be used to place dancers in the appropriate group. The final decision on placement is left up to the discretion of the dance instructors. Please wear either a black or white dance ensemble to the placement session as there will not be time to change prior to the worship service.
